Shared Living Provider - South Shore/Lunenburg/Worcester

Have you ever considered inviting a person with a disability to share your home? Have you ever thought about what a difference this could make in someone's life. . .and in your own?

The Arc currently has 3 shared living opportunities available. They are as follows:

South Shore Area

The Arc is currently assisting a woman to locate a handicapped accessible home in the New Bedford area.

The caregiver would need to assist with ADL's including showering, transfers and repositioning. Support and/or transportation to doctors' appointments is requested. They must be able support this woman in pursuing leisure activities outside of the home. She would do best with a female in the home, children are ok. The home must be handicapped accessible.

This woman enjoys the outdoors and photography. She currently does not attend a day program, but would like to find one once she is placed. She likes animals, and especially birds. Her ideal day would be to go outside and take photographs of the nature around her, or go to the beach with a good book. Her family and friends live all over MA, but predominantly in the New Bedford area which is why she is looking for placement within a 30-40mile radius.

Lunenburg Area

The Arc is currently assisting a young man to locate a partially handicapped accessible home within a 30 mile radius of Lunenburg, MA.

The caregiver would need to assist with some ADL's including but not limited to showering, helping with toileting and some household chores. Support and/or transportation to doctors' appointments is needed. They must be able support this young man in pursuing leisure activities outside of the home. He would do best with a strong male in the home.

This young man enjoys bowling, going for walks, video games, making/watching movies and so much more. He currently attends a program five days a week throughout the school year, and would be continuing this. This young man would do best in an environment where the caregiver(s) have some experience with challenging behaviors, as well as helping him learn to control them. His family is very important to him and would like to keep these relationships by visiting and/or having his family come visit.

The caregiver would need to assist with some ADL's including showering. Support and/or transportation to doctors' appointments is needed. They must be able support this woman in pursuing leisure activities outside of the home. She would do best with a female in the home and with no children.
