Arc Community Services Children’s Christmas Party

What a party! Last Saturday 42 children and families gathered for Arc’s annual children’s Christmas party and party they did.

The children arrived, many in holiday finery, and all very excited to be coming together, to see old friends and make new ones, participate in some holiday activities, share a snack, receive a gift and most of all, to see Santa Claus in person.

After enjoying coloring holiday pictures, the children had their choice of five craft tables to visit. As some children made foam creations, others decorated beautiful pine cone ornaments to take home, while some created Fruit Loop necklaces and yet others decorated their own gingerbread cookies. The favorite seemed to be cutting out pictures from sales flyers to create their very own Christmas wish lists for Santa. Once the children had a chance to complete their craft projects, they and their families gathered round the tree for a sing-along then enjoyed holiday snacks.

Finally came the moment everyone had been waiting for…Santa Claus and his elf arrived. Santa moved around the room, greeting and talking to each child personally, viewing their crafts and saying hi to family members before taking his very special chair. From there, Santa’s elf passed each present to him and Santa called each child by name to come up and receive their specially selected gift. He took a few moments with each child and many of them presented Santa with the wish lists they had just created for him. He thanked them all and everyone departed in high spirits.
